Purpose of this site: information about the Let’s Converse iOS app, and the support and privacy details Apple requires for App Store distribution.
Terms of use
These terms cover the Let’s Converse iOS app and this website. Using either means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
Your licence
The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms add to it. Where they differ about your licence to use the app, the Standard EULA applies.
The questions are written for your own conversations. You may not copy, sell or republish the collection of questions, except where that restriction is void under applicable law. The app, its questions, its design and its name remain mine. Downloading the app is also subject to Apple’s App Store terms, which apply alongside these.
Subscriptions
The app offers an annual and a monthly subscription. Each starts with a 7-day free trial for anyone who has not had one. The price for your country is shown in the app before you start.
- Who sells it. Subscriptions are sold through Apple’s App Store and paid through your Apple Account. In the European Union the seller is Apple Distribution International Ltd. I never receive your payment details.
- Billing and renewal. When the free trial ends, Apple charges your Apple Account for the plan you chose, unless you have cancelled before then. The subscription then renews automatically for the same period until you cancel it. Each renewal is charged at the price you currently pay, unless a price change has been announced to you as described below.
- Cancelling. At any time, in your iPhone’s Settings under your name and Subscriptions, or in the app under Profile › Membership. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the free trial or of the period already paid for.
- Right of withdrawal. If you live in the European Union, Apple’s Media Services Terms let you withdraw from the first purchase of a subscription within 14 days of receiving your receipt, without giving a reason. You withdraw with Apple, under Apple Account › Purchase History, and Apple refunds you. Apple’s terms set out the conditions, including when the right lapses because the service started at your express request.
- Other refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms.
- When a subscription ends, Today and Topics lock. Your journal stays readable and exportable, because it is your own writing.
Price changes
I may change the subscription price. I raise it only for objective reasons: higher costs of providing the app (such as hosting, content and support), new or higher taxes or levies, changes in exchange rates, or new or substantially improved features. If the price goes down, your subscription renews at the lower price.
You will be told about any increase at least 30 days before it applies to you. Where the law of your country requires it, the higher price applies only if you agree to it, and Apple asks you. If you do not agree, or you cancel before the increase takes effect, your subscription ends at the end of the current period and you pay nothing more. If an increase is not announced to you at least 30 days in advance, your subscription renews at the price you currently pay.
Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
About the questions
The app serves conversation questions on subjects including society, work, relationships and the future. They exist to start a discussion, and are deliberately written to be arguable.
A question is not advice, and it is not my opinion. Nothing in the app is legal, medical, financial, psychological or professional advice of any kind. Some questions touch on subjects people feel strongly about. Use your judgement about when and with whom to raise them, and skip any you would rather not discuss.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. I do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the app or this website. Nothing here limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for personal injury, or under mandatory Austrian consumer-protection law — those rights are unaffected.
Privacy
The app stores a small amount of information on your device and transmits nothing of its own; a subscription is bought and restored through Apple. The privacy policy sets out exactly what and why.
Availability and changes
I may update, change or withdraw the app or any part of it. If these terms change, the revised version appears on this page with a new date at the top, and material changes are noted in the app’s release notes.
Governing law
Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, and may bring proceedings in the courts there.
